The company has over 200 years of industrial history and was reborn through the demerger of the pulp, paper and power businesses from Metso Group in December 2013. Valmet is a leading global developer and supplier of services and technologies for the pulp, paper and energy industries. We focus on delivering technology and services globally to industries that use bio-based raw materials. Our mission is to convert renewable resources into sustainable results.

Our product and service portfolio consist of productivity-enhancing services, plant upgrades and rebuilds, new cost-efficient equipment and solutions.

Q: What do your technologies, products or services do and accomplish – how does it (they) work, who is it (they) aimed for?

Valmet has developed a family of sustainable and cost-effective processes for conversion of renewable biomass into valuable biofuels and biomaterials. This creates opportunities for our customers to grow their business and increase profitability while reducing carbon footprint.

Q: Competitively, what gives your technology, product or service set an edge in cost

or performance, sustainability, or any other aspect, that makes it stand out from the crowd, In short, what makes it transformative?

Valmet has been supplying product and services in the pulp and paper industry for a long time and thus has acquired the expertise in biomass handling and conversion from the small scale to large commercial applications. We have offices and manufacturing facilities everywhere by being a worldwide supplier.

Q: What are some of the top milestones you have accomplished in the past 3 years?

We have sold commercial scale plants for biomass pretreatment to ethanol and black pellets in Europe.

Q: What are some of the top milestones you will accomplish in the next 3 years?

Expand our commercial scale sales for both pretreatment and black pellets. Expand our commercial scale lignin production plant sales in the pulping industry.
