Bolivia to invest $250M in renewable diesel facility

In Bolivia, the EFE news agency reports the government will invest $250 million to produce 3 million barrels per year of renewable diesel from waste fats, animal fats and vegetable oil at its Guillermo Elder Bell refinery. The facility will require upwards of 450,000 metric tons of feedstock annually. Danish, French and US businesses contributed to the development of the project, but they weren’t specifically identified in the article. The fuel is intended for domestic consumption in an effort to reduce reliance on imported fossil fuels and increase “energy sovereignty”.
