In the UK, Nova Pangaea Technologies (NPT) welcomed the UK Government’s announcement of its SAF mandate plans.
The mandate becoming law is key to driving investment into a domestic SAF industry placing the UK at the forefront of aviation decarbonization, the firm said.
Sarah Ellerby, CEO of NPT, said: “I am pleased by the UK Government announcement on its SAF mandate plans. A UK domestic SAF market needs government support and legislation, as well as a revenue certainty mechanism to attract investment into technology and SAF plants. The UK focus should be on ‘home-grown’ SAF production and supply over imports, as the mandate of 10% for 2030 approaches.”
“Airline SAF demand continues to stay ahead of supply and the aviation sector has to fulfill government SAF mandates and their own emission reduction goals to reach net zero. A fully supported domestic SAF industry will deliver host nation energy security, growth and investment opportunities, job creation, and help keep passenger levy down,” Ellerby added.
