In India, the Hindu Times Business Line newspaper reports Bharat Petroleum Corporation has contracted Elan Greentech Energies to design India’s first refinery-based Compressed Biogas. The facility is set to produce 15 metric tons of compressed biogas daily from 100 tons of paddy straw. Farmers burning paddy straw is a major source of air pollution in the country and the government has sought solutions to offer farmers an outlet for the biomass instead of burning it.
